6 February 2026, Bangkok - The Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) honored six of Asia’s tobacco control leaders today during its 25th anniversary Tobacco Control Legacies celebration, held in Bangkok, Thailand, including Singapore’s Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Mr. Ong Ye Kung, who was awarded the inaugural Prakit Vathesatogkit Trailblazer Award. Other awardees were Dr. Phan Thi Hai of the Ministry of Health, Vietnam, who received the inaugural Judith Mackay Torchbearer Award, and Dr. Katthanaphone Phandouangsy and Dr. Maniphanh Vongphosy of Lao PDR, who were jointly conferred the SEATCA Unsung Hero Award.

Today, the Action on Smoking and Health Foundation, in collaboration with the Tobacco Product Control Committee Office, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health—led by Mr. Jirawat Yoosabai, Deputy Director of the Tobacco Product Control Committee Office, and Ms. Wanlapa Kaewsri, Program Executive of the Action on Smoking and Health Foundation—inspected the sites and installed "No Smoking and E-Cigarette" signs. This declares Rajamangala National Stadium and all SEA Games competition areas as 100% smoke-free zones.

(1-2 December 2025, Bangkok, Thailand.) Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is setting a goal to develop a smoke-free city in all dimensions to protect the health of Bangkok residents and tourists from the dangers of second-hand smoke. This will be achieved by uniting all sectors to tangibly implement policies and establish a robust law enforcement system.

This year, the Ministry of Culture is hosting the 2025 Loy Krathong Festival under the theme: “Loy Krathong Tai Thai: Honoring the Queen Mother of the Land” at Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Bangkok. Deputy Prime Minister Prof.Bowornsak Uwanno presiding over the ceremony.

The Action on Smoking and Health Foundation (ASH Foundation) participated in and presented its work at the 2025 World Conference on Tobacco Control. The conference was organized by The Union with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The Action on Smoking and Health Foundation (ASH Foundation), supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), backed a network of partners to attend and exchange lessons on enforcing smoke-free public spaces.

The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, the Tobacco Control Fund of Cambodia's Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) Asia Pacific Region, and the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) organized a conference titled "Linking Cities to Advance Tourism and Preserve our Heritage."

As part of the Smoke-free home project, ASH Thailand, in collaboration with Rakluukgroup Ltd., today went on a tour and visit a primary school to promote the Smoke-free home project. The strategy is to give these young students a better understanding of why it is very important for everyone to live in a smoke-free environment, especially at home. There were approximately 200 students actively involve through out the full day programs.
